4.7.2 Identifying Protocols ASTEC Eyes does not Support
You can prevent ASTEC Eyes from trying to interpret the application layer protocols
it does not support, by configuring such protocols in
decode hint.
Procedure

Open [Options] dialog box.

Click [Decode Hints] in the tree view in the left of the dialog box.

Specify an IP address, transport protocol, and port number,
and enter arbitrary text as protocol name.
Note

A packet in a decode view will be displayed as follows;
-
The protocol name configured with the decode hint is displayed on
the protocol column of the Summary pane.
-
"Maybe a packet of protocol name protocol" is displayed
on the summary column of the Summary pane.

"Unknown Data" is displayed
on the application layer field of the Packet Detail pane.

The packet in the stream view will be displayed as follows;
-
The protocol name configured with the decode hint is displayed on
the protocol column of the Summary pane.

"Maybe a record of protocol name protocol" is displayed
on the summary column of the Summary pane.
-
"Unknown Data" is displayed
on the application layer field of the Packet Detail pane.
