1.5.1 Monitoring Protocols not Using Well-Known Ports

ASTEC Eyes identifies an application layer protocol by the port numbers of TCP or UDP. Therefore, ASTEC Eyes can not identify an application or protocol when a proxy server is used and/or an application layer protocol uses a port other than one of the well-known ports. When a well-known port is not assigned for an application or protocol, ASTEC Eyes can not identify it either.

In such cases, configure the decoding hint.

Procedure

  1. Open [Options] dialog box.
  2. Click [Decode Hints] item in the tree view in the left of the dialog box.
  3. Configure the decoding hint.
