6.1.1 Choosing the Host Name Used to Identify the Host
You can use host names registered through the name services or user-defined names
as well as IP and MAC addresses to identify hosts
in the monitor window, decode view, and stream view.
-
NetBIOS names found while decoding and user-defined names are available for a MAC address.
-
DNS names, NetBIOS names, NIS names, and user-defined names
are available for an IP address.
If more than one host name is registered through different name services
for one IP address, you can specify the host name to be used for display.
-
More than one user-defined name can be assigned to an IP or a MAC address.
In addition,
more than one name might be assigned to an IP address by a name service.
