17.2 Measuring Voice Quality Using Call Simulation Module
You can measure the voice quality using two hosts,
one of them with Call Simulation Module installed.
A Call Simulation Module is contained in ASTEC Eyes for VoIP.

Install ASTEC Eyes Basic Package, VoIP library, and Call Simulation Module on one host (named host A).
- Install Call Simulation Module on the other host (named host B).

Run the Call Receiver of the Call Simulation Module on host B.

Run ASTEC Eyes for VoIP on host A to measure voice quality.
Running Call Receiver

Logon the host to run the Call Simulation Module as user
with Administrator privileges.

Click the Windows [start] menu.

Choose [All Programs] ([Programs] for Windows 2000)
-> [ASTEC Eyes for VoIP] -> [Start Receiver].
Invoking ASTEC Eyes for VoIP and Measuring Voice Quality
- Invoke ASTEC Eyes.

Select an interface
used for sound transmission.
- Click [Transmit Sound] button (
) on the Common toolbar of the Main window.

Specify a sound file, destination host, CODEC, and the repeat count of transmission.
- Click [Send...] button.

There are sample sound files, sample1.wav and sample2.wav, under the directory
where ASTEC Eyes for VoIP is installed.

You can also send audio data from the Call Receiver of Call Simulation Module.
- Click the Windows [start] menu.

Choose [All Programs] ([Programs] for Windows 2000)
-> [ASTEC Eyes for VoIP] -> [Setup Receiver].
- Select [Bidirectional] and specify a sound file.

To measure voice quality over IPv6, you need to set the Call
Receiver accordingly before invoking it.
- Click the Windows [start] menu.

Choose [All Programs] ([Programs] for Windows 2000)
-> [ASTEC Eyes for VoIP] -> [Setup Receiver] -> [Detail].
- Select [IPv6].
