4.4.11 Displaying Network Utilization of Decoded Data

You can view the network utilization at the time the data captured, by displaying the statistics of MAC Traffic with utilization as unit.

It is necessary to know the link speed for calculating the utilization. If the default link speed is not set yet, [Link Speed] dialog box will appear.

Procedure 1

  1. Right-click on a decode view.
  2. Choose [Statistics].
  3. Choose [1 MAC Traffic].
  4. Right-click on the window.
  5. Choose [Unit].
  6. Choose [Utilization].
  7. If the link speed is not yet set, [Link Speed] dialog box will appear. Specify the link speed.

Procedure 2

  1. Click [Statistics] button () on the toolbar of a decode view.
  2. Choose [1 MAC Traffic].
  3. Right-click on the window.
  4. Choose [Unit].
  5. Choose [Utilization].
  6. If the link speed is not set yet, [Link Speed] dialog box will appear. Specify the link speed.

Specifying Link Speed

If the default link speed is set, the network utilization chart will be displayed for a capture file, using the default link speed in calculation.

Procedure 1

  1. Open [Options] dialog box.
  2. Click [Decode] in the tree view in the left of the dialog box.
  3. Enter the link speed into [Default link] field.

Procedure 2

  1. Right-click on a statistics window displayed from the decode view.
  2. Choose [Properties...].
  3. Click [Information] tab.
  4. Enter the link speed into [Link speed] field.
