4.5.3.7 Displaying All Packets Related to the Specific Protocol over TCP

The communication of a TCP application proceeds as follows;

  1. Establish the TCP connection.
  2. Transfer the data of the application.
  3. Close the TCP connection.
The protocol name of an application is displayed in the Protocol column of the Summary pane of the decode view, for the packets containing the application data, On the other hand, for the packets of establishing or closing the connection, TCP is used as protocol name.
You can display both of these packets using a single header attribute filter.

Procedure 1

  1. Click [Header Attribute Filter] button () on the toolbar of a decode view.
  2. Choose [8 IP Protocols].
  3. Choose the application protocol you want to use to screen packets.

Procedure 2

  1. Right-click on a decode view.
  2. Choose [Filter].
  3. Choose [Header Attribute Filter].
  4. Choose [8 IP Protocols].
  5. Choose the application protocol you want to use to screen packets.
